Shakti Yoga
Shakti yoga is a type of yoga practice that harnesses the power of Shakti, or a feminine life force. During a shakti yoga practice, kundalini energy is released from the base of the spine to travel through the body’s system of chakras. Shakti yoga utilizes flowing, hatha yoga power poses, such as sun salutations, and standing asanas like warrior I, II and III.
A typical shakti yoga practice will connect yoga postures, breath work, and chants to activate the body’s energy and channel it through the chakras. If you’re taking a shakti yoga class for the first time, you can expect flowing movement that is connected with your breath, and powerful postures that are designed to energize your body.
