Types of Yoga
Ayurveda Yoga
Ayurveda yoga is a type of practice that uses yoga postures to balance one’s doshas. In Ayurveda, your “doshas” are the combination of your own balance of physical, emotional, spiritual, and mental characteristics. There are three types of doshas, called Pitta, Kapha and Vata. Through understanding of the makeup of your personal doshas, you can integrate specific yoga postures into your routine to balance the elements within yourself and achieve holistic health.
A typical ayurveda yoga class will thoughtfully seek to balance your doshas through practicing yogic postures, breath work, and meditation. The goal of ayurveda yoga is to listen to your body, and individualize your practice to what works best for you. Benefits to practicing ayurveda yoga include physical and mental healing, increased self-awareness, and improved life balance. Here are some other things you should know about ayurveda yoga.
