Questions about {{name}}
We do not recommend power yoga for beginner yogis. If you are unfamiliar with basic yoga poses and have not practiced proper alignment of many of the most common yoga poses performed in many types of yoga, practicing power yoga can lead to injury. Because of the fast paced nature of power yoga, we recommend this practice for intermediate and advanced yoga practitioners.
The Hindu word Shakti means divine energy and is the energy that inhabits all beings and flows throughout the universe. It is powerful, creative energy! Shakti power yoga is power yoga specifically designed to move energy throughout the body. It is an intense, invigorating workout that focuses on alignment, breath, and meditation.
Power yoga poses tend to be fairly intense and require a fair amount of strength and flexibility. During a power yoga class, you may encounter poses such as half moon, plank, camel, locust, bow pose, and eagle pose, amongst others.
Different yoga instructors approach power yoga sequences differently. Most power yoga classes do follow a pattern that yoga students learn and can practice on their own. However, power yoga classes will vary from yoga studio to yoga studio and with different teachers.
