Hit the Ground Running; Shoes Optional!
I wanted to pop on here as a lead up to our kick off call on 5th September with a little prep AND pep!
The idea behind this challenge is to move a little bit more than you do EVERYDAY: take the stairs instead of the elevator, walk to the store a few blocks down instead of driving, walk and take that zoom call – unless of course it’s yoga.
Let’s be honest: sometimes the hardest part of any wellness journey is just starting. But walking? It’s one of your first movements, unless you were dancing before you were walking!
We don’t need to wait for the right time, the right shoes, or the right playlist (though I do love a good audio book). You already have everything you need. Just open the door and go.
And if you’re easing into it, start with baby steps: begin with a little grounding; kick off your shoes, step outside, and let your feet connect with the earth. Grass, sand, soil, whatever’s underfoot.
As we move through the challenge, we’ll explore the many wonderful ways people walk. From chi walking, forest bathing, Nordic walking with poles and purpose.
We started this challenge for two reasons: to get healthy together and to share stories. One of our members shared that she stood up from her wheel chair to brush her teeth!!! That’s what we’re talking about … movement wherever possible.
We’d love to hear how you’re doing. What inspires you to get out the door? What’s your favourite route, tip, or hack? Share your adventures, your rituals, your muddy shoes and beautiful views with the community.
Post here in the group.
Every walk counts, and every voice matters.

I did some experimenting today with Japanese walking that Kiran Goyal and Konami had shared with me … was happy I found an app for that so I didn’t have to keep watching the clock and could continue to listen to my audio book
